After what seems like a lifetime without regular internet access, I’m back online, but now without the mania.
My life has been strangely calm, I feel more in touch, more human.
OK so yes my websites need some TLC, I could do this or that to them to make them better etc.
But what about me? What about my own quality of life?
What about my own relationships, about the people in my life, those people who are nearest and dearest to me?
Will they notice if my website is ‘much better now’ or not?
Let me ask you this question, do the people that love you in your life worry if what you’re working on is ‘excellent’?
OR do they worry about YOU?
I’m the first to admit “I’m a workaholic†in fact I come from a long line of workaholics – but realise that ‘I am not my work’.
I’m not going to lie, I’d love to get praise about what I do, the work I do, the art I do, the book I’m doing, the websites I’ve done, the things I’ve made etc – as much as the next workaholic. But all of these things are things – they are ultimately not Me!
If you’re a workaholic – then remind yourself this:
“Let people like me for Who I Am – just as I am.â€
“People like me for being me, not only for what I do.â€
It’s all about priorities, are you living to work? Or working so that you can live with more freedom?
It’s so easy to forget what life is all about.
Yes – we (most of us) need to make money – a lot of people like to make loads of money, but what is your end game?
Where are you heading? Do you want to be the richest corpse in the cemetery? Or do you want to have lived your life to the full, to have lived your dreams? To have fulfilled your potentials, to have laughed till your guts hurt?
Life is about living, it’s about love, it’s about joy and bliss, and money, career are important ingredients but they are not the whole cake. You need them so you can live more fully, to love more fully, to BE yourself more fully.
So put the mouse down… go on …slowly move away from the screen
…let go of the mouse
Â
…and get your coat on and get out and have some fun!
Or … (are you still reading this?) phone your mum, tell her that you love her
…call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while
…just take a break! And get some fresh air!
