Proanoia! Everybody is trying to help you!

Lots of people can imagine the ‘worst case scenario’ of almost every situation eventually it becomes a way of thinking and can even be a way of living your life.

It’s a product of having been little furry animals, where FEAR is our natural response, imagining the worst – prepares you for survival, it helps us take the necessary steps to ensure our best chances of living in a world where you were likely to get eaten but some bigger scarier furry animal, usually with MUCH BIGGER TEATH!!!!

Some people say that there is a definite benefit if you except the worst ‘at least you wont be disappointed’ when it happens.

It’s known as ‘being realistic’ but in the worst case scenario it is ‘Paranoia’ or ‘Siege Mentality’ where you expect the worst or prepare for the worst.

A little bit of fear does help to keep you alive, crossing a busy street would be a pretty messy situation if you had absolutely no fear.

But there is another way of living, which is an equally logical and realistic perspective and way of seeing the world.

Start today by imagining the best case scenario; start to think of the best and most ideal outcome to any given situation.

The great thing with starting to imagine the best outcome of any given situation is that sometimes, and the more you practise it, the more often the positive outcome actually materialises.

You can do this for both your professional and personal life.

Exercise – Before you go to meeting imagine that it’s going to turn out really well, everyone present is remarkably friendly and helpful, imagine at the end of the meeting you feeling fantastic, content and happy that things have gone so well.

Visualise your self coming out of the meeting with a big smile on your face. Start to look forward to the meeting and the positive outcome.

Say to yourself “anything is possible” and “people change” and “I love life!”

Instead of thinking ‘people are all out to get me’ (Paranoia) start thinking ‘people are all trying to help me’ (Proanoia).
