Relaxation breathing exercise

Focused Breathing – in this exercise – you quietly focus on your in and out breath – the feeling a sensation of your breathe in and out of your lungs – feel your abdomen rise and fall -

start to focus on your breathing

breathing in through your nose

and out

breathing is calming

it is soothing

breathe slowly and calmly

allow all the stress in your body to be realest

fill your lungs with fresh calming air

if you do this for long enough and without hyper-ventilating

you soon will become – completely calm
and imagine that on each in breath you breathe in peace

and one each out breath you breath out tension and stress

imagine ath on each in breath you breath in peace – love and joy – see (in your minds eye)

a white clear light filling your lungs and entire being -
breath out stress, anger and frustration – and see in your minds eye – you breathing out dark fumes
do this until there are not too many fumes to breath out
then when you breath in light -peace and joy – you then begin to breath out light peace and joy

and when you slowly allow the calm air to leave your lungs

you start to fill the world around you with calming energy

you become a calmer person

a messenger of calmness and of peace

you can do anything and achieve anything – when you are calm

and being calm is your true and natural state

anything that interferes with that state of total calmness is a form of idolatryso just relax, think good and everything is gonna be alright

and breathe

Wishes of peace

PEACE

Conflict or anykind cannot be resolved by more conflict,

Anti-war marchs just increase war,

Boycots just add spritual fuel to the problem

I’d just learn to focus

To breathe,

to spend time developing a mediative practice

even if it’s for a few mins a day

Breathing in and out

saying words like, Love, Peace, Relax, Calm, Bliss, Happiness, God, Divine, Tranquility, etc…

to yourself quietly.

Imagine a bright white healing light entering your lungs, filling your entire being with love and bliss,

see yourself as a being of calm healing light

a supernova of divine energy

smile inwardly to yourself,

say I allow myself the chance to be free, to be truly free,

happiness is my birthright, etc…

become the sourse of love, peace and blessings in your own life

don’t worry about office conflicts

if you can rediscover peace within yourself – the entire world will stop fighting

within you is the divine, the power to change, the power to create, to influence, to manifest your dreams

make sure your dreams are hopefilled and love filled.

wishing you much love

Turn off the Computer and live!

If you find yourself doing the same thing over and over, without variety, whether it’s staying late at work, getting angry in traffic, watching TV, surfing the internet (on whatever your favourite site is at the moment), then you need to STOP!

You see being furry little animals we like the little things that give us pleasure to continue to give us pleasure.

Sometimes this is called an addiction.

You see, it’s easy to get addicted to anything, getting addicted to being stressed, or anxiety, or moody, or exercise, or food, going out and getting drunk, staying home and doing nothing, etc… etc… it’s easy to get addicted to the emotions we feel, the thoughts we think and the stuff we do.

And it’s all because we get pleasure from doing all these things, yes we even get pleasure from things that aren’t good for us.

We feel stress and we release adrenalin into our bloodstream and over time we become addicted to it, and we create situations in our lives that create more stress and more adrenalin. But it’s not just stress, there are millions of combinations of ‘class A’ drugs running around in your body that you could get addicted to and that we ultimately get pleasure from.

In fact much of who you think you are i.e. your ‘personality’ is probably just a long series of different internal drug addictions you have and that you continue to feed.

Your life; just an extension of your addictive need to feed your habit.

Your lifestyle just a way of making sure you get your fix.

How can you tell an addict from a healthy human being?

Simply, an addict only gets real pleasure from a small and limited number of places.

So that could be food, alcohol, gambling, sex, shopping, sugar, drugs, the internet, Playstation, power, smoking, exercise, pornography, money, caffeine, junk food, stress, bad relationships… the list goes on, but it’s usually either exclusively or from a very limited number of these or other vices.

But also that pleasure makes you feel bad, sad or guilty for feeling it.

But the problem is not that we get pleasure from things, but that we limit the sources of our pleasure.

Anyways you bunch of drug addicts – yes you are a drug addict! (don’t you know that denial is the first sign of an addiction?) – there is help.

Increase and vary the number of places that you get pleasure from.

You might want to start with focusing on your five/six senses and on a Sunday focus your attention and get pleasure from your sense of smell, Monday could be sound, Tuesday touch, Wednesday sight, Thursday taste, Friday balance, Saturday all of the above.

Or you could start changing things – like instead of continuing to look at this website – you might turn your computer off and clean your house, or go for a walk, or speak to a friend, or anything that is completely different to what you might have been planning, left to your own devises.

Go on then, why are you still reading this gibberish? Go on get out of here! HAVE FUN!

This is not my …

First up:

This is not my…” don’t ask me why it’s called that, in fact I’m not entirely convinced they know either. And word on the line is that they’re gonna be changing the name anyways. “Who knows what…?” – might be a good idea.

This is not my... website

This bunch of humorous, down-to-earth, slightly eccentric real-life eco-warriors are a breath of fresh air -check them out to see what I mean.

This is not my… way to butter-up cool sites in exchange for a recipricol link.

Getting it on with the Urban Guru!

I’m gonna be highlighting/featuring cool sites that I like. I’m a bit funny about the exact reasons why I like these sites/people/companies but it goes something like this:

1. The site needs to look good and work (I like good aesthetics)
2. I want it to be saying something – hopeful or inspiring
3. They need to be friendly, cool & approachable
4. I’d prefer if the site had some eco-consciousness
5. In someway reflects and shares the ideals of Urban Guru
6. All of the above may not apply if I just take a fancy to it.

I’m also open to suggestions for highlighting sites that you like too, so let me know if you wanna see your favorite site mentioned on Urban Guru.

I’d ideally like sites that are Manchester based, but I’m open to anything cool.

Confidence

It’s not the clothes you wear,

It’s not the car you drive,

The house you own,

The things you have,

It’s not a cigar,

A panty liner,

Mobile phone,

Or your bullet-proof helicopter,

Confidence is not the money you have in the bank,

It’s not a sawn off shotgun,

It’s not something you can buy,

But it is something you can learn,

Not by realising how powerful you are,

Not by the practice of putting other people down,

Not by learning Kung Fu,

But by letting go of yourself,

Not letting yourself go,

By realising that your sense of separateness is an illusion,

By realising your oneness with all,

By realising your unity with all,

By becoming aware of the All,

The air you breathe,

The body you are,

The life you live, are all an expression of the One Intelligent Being which is everywhere equally.

WHAM CRACK KPOW!#@!

Once a farmer had an unruly donkey, who ran around his fields and never did what he was supposed to do.

The farmer was at a loss and offered a reward for anyone who could tame his wild donkey.

Many people tried but failed, they tried shouting at it, tempting it with carrots, etc… but noting seemed to work.

Then one day a wondering traveler heard of the reward and decided to try and tame this wild donkey.

The traveler picked up the largest plank of wood he could find and whacked the donkey between the eyes, he then whispered something in his ear, and from then on the donkey was cured.

But the farmer was horrified and frankly appalled and refused to give the traveler his reward “if I wanted someone to whack my donkey between the eyes i could have done it myself”

- “ahh” said the traveler, “but that was just to get his attention!”

Dear Urban Guru Readers!

Our little boy Jacob has only slept through the night on about 4 occasions in the past 6 months, and for whatever reason it is my responsibility most nights to settle him back to sleep with a little 3 am pat or the occasional hug.

As I’ve previously mentioned I can conclusively prove that long term sleep deprivation and disturbance really does affect ones mental abilities and spiritual agilities.

And if I’m being totally honest with myself and you, the Urban Guru has really not been on top form. I’ve been writing a monthly column for EN magazine as you’ll probably been aware of, but that’s been about it.

My energetic focus has been on my family and launching my ONE THINK SPACE training business, publishing my first downloadable book see here for more details, continuing to provided the best life coaching services in Manchester.

But I have realised that the Urban Guru site and persona have suffered as a result. More importantly I’ve realised that ‘the Urban Guru’ is probably the closest thing to who I really am, who I am when I fulfil all of my potentialities, deeply happy, inspired and loving of all existence.

So I’m going to be making a concerted effort to put my focus back where it belongs and invest in the future that I’m creating for myself and my universe with Urban Guru.

Not only for you, but as you’ve gathered also for me. Being and becoming the Urban Guru has been a life-long journey and it is a journey that has revealed itself to me in piecemeal, that’s not to say the being and becoming the Urban Guru is the end of the journey by any means, but that for the moment it is one of the best things I can do for my own sanity and for the world.

Over the past few weeks I’ve rediscovered an eternal truth, that I have been ‘theoretically’ aware of for many years and that is, “the best thing you can do for the world, is to be yourself completely”.

Often, because of the spiritual training and religious brainwashing that I’ve undergone in my many years in the various religious seminaries I attended.

I find it easy to put myself and my own needs to one side, while putting the needs of other before my own.

Now of course this is very commendable and indeed a really useful personal and spiritual tool that can be used on occasions, however being selfless is not a way to live every moment of your life.

The tradition I come from suggested that the truly enlightened individual metaphorically carries two different verses in their pocket, the first:

“The entire universe was created for me”

and the second:
“Be as dust of the earth before all”

And obviously either characteristic, whether feeling like a ego-centric megalomaniac or feeling like a worthless piece of dust are not psychological goals in and of themselves.

They are like wings of a bird, each one balances out the other, so that together you can truly fly.

At times you need to be humble and at times you need to be ego-centric and put yourself first, this balancing act is best mediated by the feeling and experience of love.

Love is not prejudice; it loves you as much as it loves the people in your life. Love will let you know when to be humble and when to be self-centred. Because if your feeling of love is being compromised you’ll know and that’s when you know to stop and say, No!

It is that sense of love that gives you the permission to love yourself, to look after yourself to care for yourself and to ask the universe for the things that you need and want to fully become the truly amazing person you are and were always meant to be.

Because if you don’t love and look after yourself and your own personal and spiritual development then, there will be no you to help others, no feeling of love to share or give to others.

So for the sake of the planet, for the sake of every human being, learn to love yourself and learn to be selfless. Learn to become the centre of your own universe and at the same time learn to be x-centric – to put yourself outside of the centre of your universe so that you can truly help and be there for another.

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love -

Love is the only way to live your life successfully.

One – Jedi – Buddhahood Coming Up!

I’ve been looking for ‘that book’ – you know the one – that’ll teach you how to instantly attain a Jedi-like-Buddhahood, the one that effortlessly reminds you of what you already know deep down. And I’ve looked in the Mind/Body/Spirit section of the bookshop – also the Popular Science section – for cool Urban-Warrior-style book about Quantum Physics.

And I’ve even tried searches on the internet – for phrases like ‘Buddha-in-the-hood’ or ‘Jedi-Buddhahood’- but nothing apart from a Star Wars role-playing book for $179!! which (by-the-way) I saw about three years ago in another bookshop for about £40! – (so much for my prude investment intuition) anyways – I don’t want to play-act being a Jedi – or read a load of Buddhist or Tao airy fairy stuff half mixed with loads of Indian ‘Words’ and lingo just to feel ‘spiritual’.

I just want a plain talking – selfless – down-to-earth guide, I want to actually Be – to feel and experience that inner-peace altered state of Higher Consciousness

And then it came to me – Flash! – Smack! – Boom!!!! – like an old ‘friend’ – who I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to bump into again – and it asked me:

‘Why are you looking outside of yourself – for the answers and solutions that lye within yourself?

Write your own bloody book!’ it said –

‘Discover the inner-Buddha in you -

uncover the Jedi Knight – hiding in your dressing gown.

Behold the Uber Mench – Behold the Urban Guru!’

Life Coach? Get one before you need one!

I’ve been a practicing life coach for over seven years and what puzzles me even now is why most people search out the services of a life coach when things in their life really hits ‘crunch time’.

Only when their life is in utter crisis that people admit they need a bit of help and give me a call. It’s only when their relationship has ended, their job is on the line that they call.

What I say is why didn’t you call me six months earlier and you wouldn’t be in this mess to start with?!

I think it’s because most people believe that they can handle things by themselves, that they don’t need any help. Others live their whole lives believing that they have to be superheroes, putting on plastic smiles, lying to themselves and others that their life is ‘Fine!’ and that all they need to do is read a self help book to help them sort it out.

We’ve got a culture of DIY lifestyle makeovers and everyone seems to believe they can do it alone and don’t need any help. It encourages psychological independence which is a fantastic thing if you get it right, but not at the expense of our basic inter-dependence.

We all need help; we all need friends, family and community to talk to, and to discuses the things going on in our lives people to celebrate our successes and our challenges. But very few people are brave enough and honest enough with themselves to admit that they might actually benefit from an objective viewpoint, someone who isn’t family and can see your life from a different perspective, someone that can help them really make a success of their lives.

I think that for many people they didn’t know they had any type of choice about the type of life they lived.

Most of us just seem to survive, and move about in reaction to the particular needs of that moment, rather than realising that you do have far more control over your own destiny than you are aware of. And personally as a life coach I’d much rather focus on ‘success coaching’, helping people to become even more successful than they already are, rather than what seems to be ‘crisis coaching’.

I want to help people who are already successful in their own right become even more successful. I want to help people with businesses make even more money, I want to help them reduce the stress in their lives and help them to discover balance.

Just imagine you had someone in your life to help you sort your life out, someone friendly and professional, helping you to challenge your own self-limiting beliefs, helping you to become significantly wealthier, healthier and happier. Someone to help you create the life you want, to help you discover your dreams and make them become reality.

Planting a money tree forest in the wilderness of you mind!

For millennia intrepid explorers search the four corners of the earth seeking out the legendary Money Tree forest. Legend has it, that instead of green leaves, freshly minted cash grows and whoever discovers the whereabouts of the forest would become wealthy beyond their dreams.

Once a lucky explorer went wondering aimlessly along the edges of an uncharted forest when a fifty-pound-note blew passed in the gentle spring breeze. The explorer looked in the direction the note had come from, followed his nose and soon discovered a vast and lush evergreen Money Tree Forest.

He began to gather the notes in bundles and spent years gathering all the notes he could find; those on the forest floor and those on the trees, until all the trees in the entire forest were stripped bare. The explorer was now very rich, but the forest was sad and with no notes on the forest floor to nourish the trees roots the forest began to die and wither away, until it died completely and the Money Tree Forest became a myth.

Some people may have accumulated a large fortune through hoarding their money, but they are ultimately killing the money tree forest within them, because they are not being wealthy, they are being poor, and they are killing the source of their wealth.

A person’s wealth is best demonstrated by their ability to give. The Money Tree gives of itself, and it lets it’s fruit fall to the ground, but that giving ultimately nourishes the tree and makes it even richer.

A truly wealthy person is able to give, they are rich physically and spiritually, wealthy enough to give of themselves, to give of their hearts, to give of their time and most importantly to give of their money.

For your Money Tree Forest Starter Pack, please send your blank cheques to the Urban Guru c/o EN Magazine.

The Kitchen Sink of Your Soul

The kitchen sink is your cosmic portal, your secret doorway to a magical mastery of the space-time continuum, the nexus of colliding paradigms and the control panel of the intergalactic space pod, better known as your life.

So profound is this sacred place that most dare not approach it, except for surreptitiously placing offerings at its mouth-like abyss.

The prayer that is secretly made while giving up the remnants of our daily meals is; that this hallowed whirlpool will mysteriously dissolve and consume those things we cannot bare to deal with.

And although the cleansing waters cascading from your celestial boiler can wash away many of the little problems and difficulties of your life, nonetheless it is the bigger pieces of hidden emotional onions, carrots and bits of unrecognisable plastic, which wont just go away with a little bit of positive thinking and personal effectiveness training.

The reason why you have this blockage is because in your complete and sublime surrender to the yearnings of your entrepreneurial soul, the small, mundane and trivial stuff that is beneath you has been ignored. You have not dealt with the junk that you would have been wiser to scrape off your plate before you put them in the sink.

Things like; dealing with your ever-increasing stress, your virtually non-existent relationship and home-life, making sure you’ve got pairs of socks, a life plan, discovering what the meaning and purpose of your life are, or putting off your health concerns because you’ve got “more important things to do”, like running your business, making money and taking over the world.

But it’s these relatively small niggly and often overlooked things that can come back to bite you. These underlying issues contribute to a general build up of spiritual grease, muck and slime that are the cause of the blockage in the kitchen sink of your life.

So, roll up your sleeves, don your Marigolds and bask in the cleansing light of this sublime everyday therapy.

Urban Guru’s advice for entrepreneurs: Part 2

Rather than revealing ‘how to unblock the plughole in the kitchen sink of your life’, I’m gonna to teach you know how to fix the leak in the engine of your karmic Porsche.

As you drive on your spiritual superhighway towards even greater personal and financial prosperity, you may notice a slight drop in performance, you might reach a plateau where no matter how much you put your foot down you’re not reaping the rewards that you’ve been used to.

It turns out that you’ve got a leak, and that leak is you!

You want to get rich right? Or become even richer than you are already? But how do you get rich and become richer?

The ancient Urban Guru’s of antiquity expounded this proverb:

‘Who is rich? Those who are happy with what they already have’.

This ancient wisdom is not as simplistic as it first sounds, rather than merely describing someone who is “rich” on the inside, it is a secret spiritual lesson about how the universe works and how you can get rich and become even richer, right now.

Think of it like this if you gave someone a present and they loved it looked after it and took care of it, you’d be sure to give them an even better present next time.

But if they didn’t look after what you gave them, then why the hell would you ever give them anything ever again?

Mother Nature wants her kids (that’s you) to be deeply happy. So if you’ve become blasé about the prosperity that you already have then why would she give you any more for you to be even more miserable with?

Be grateful, appreciate, look after and celebrate what Life has already given you, then you start to invite even greater wealth and success into your life.

If you are truly happy with what you already have then the Universe will give you even more, to be even happier with!

The Best Mom in the World

Abbie & Jacob

Abbie is the best Mom in the world – She’s the mother of my child and my wise and lovely partner in crime. I love her to bits!

She’s my No. 1! This is also a great way to find out if she actually does read my blog as she claims she does. But more than that, without her there would be no Urban Guru.

Abbie is my main day-to-day Life Coach and Urban Guru, she embodies the wisdom I only dream about.

And I just wanted to share that with the world!

Quarter Life Crisis

It used to be that sometime between 40 and 55 many people would have midlife crisis. Some would find themselves buying flash sports cars, having a fling, getting divorced, all in order to get them through this difficult period in their lives.

But today the quarter life crisis is more and more common. As a Life Coach I see many people in their mid twenties and thirties who are looking to get some help with their own equivalent of a Midlife crisis.

Many young career minded people are earning significant sums and they might have a house or two, a fancy car, even a great relationship, but for some reason something seems to be missing.

The crisis often happens precisely when everything seems to be going really well.

Often it is when you’ve got everything you thought you ever wanted.

In the past it would take half your life to get everything you wanted, but now some people are finding that they’ve got everything they want in their mid twenties!

You might have imagined that you’d be happy if you were making £40,000 + a year, if you had that cool house, car, went on that holiday, got married to that special person etc… But you’ve got all of that and more, or most of it, but hey guess what?

You’re still not truly and deeply happy! You’re not as happy as you thought you’d be, in fact you’re life feels a little bit grey and beige, you don’t really like your job, you haven’t had time to make your house a home, the holiday was nice but no matter, you didn’t feel the sunshine on the inside!

You seem to be stuck, unmotivated, slightly depressed, slightly unsure what you’re doing with your life and what it’s really all about. But you keep on distracting yourself, avoiding the questions, avoiding the sense of beige that is slowly enveloping your life.

You go on even more holidays, work even harder, buy a new car, a new house, a new gadget, hoping that you’ll feel better. But it works for a while not then that dull heavy feeling slowly creeps back.

So what’s the cure?

Simply, it’s about discovering more Meaning and Purpose in your life.

Asking yourself the bigger questions about what you think you’re doing here on this little planet.

What’s your purpose in life?

What is the meaning of life?

Does it have any meaning?

Is there more to life than what I can see?

Something else that can really dramatically help you get over your quarter life crisis is helping others.

Not just giving money to a good cause – which is a great idea, but also get yourself actively involved in helping others.

It might mean volunteering for a charity, feeding the homeless or helping people who are disadvantaged.

Also discovering who you really are, looking inwardly and finding the person you were before your headlong plunge into your career.

It’s also important to rediscover the simple pleasures of life.

Do you remember being a kid? You used to enjoy the simple things in life, things that were free, like riding your bike in the park, having a go on the swing, messing around friends, eating blackberries, picking daffodils from a neighbours garden, laying in the grass and that kinda stuff.

Three tips – to help you over your quarter life crisis.

1. Look for meaning and purpose in your life

2. Actively help others

3. Rediscover your pleasure in the simple things

Urban Guru’s advice for entrepreneurs: Live Your Dream Now!

When writing business plans, making that investment in your business future, you often forget the most important asset in this whole venture and that’s YOU!

However great your business idea, what is ultimately going to make it a success is you! No matter what the business, it is people who are ultimately going to have to buy in to you and your business idea.

If you’re going to change this idea you’ve got in to a successful business reality then you’re going to have to be the real power behind it.

As an entrepreneur you’re going to need bag loads of self-belief, motivation, determination, vision, drive and passion. You’re going to have to learn how to first convince yourself, let alone the bank manager, that you are going to be successful.

Success is not just what you’ve achieved in your life, it’s not the car you drive, the house you own, the business you’ve created or what you’ve got in the bank, it is more importantly, a state of mind, a feeling that wells up in the core of your being that gives you that special twinkle in your eye and that confident bounce in your step.

How are you going to be successful? I’m going to let you in on a really powerful and practical tool that can really give you the continuous drive and motivation to make your business a real success.

This is how it works: Think about where you want your business to be in five years time? Imagine that your business is going to be a fantastic success. Let me ask you a few questions: What would it look like? How would it work? What’s your role? What’s your day like? How do you look? And most importantly, how do you feel? Do you feel confident? Do you feel successful?

If you can taste that future success now, then you’re on your way to becoming truly successful! Everyday take time to think about the person you want to be in the not to distant future and remind yourself of what it is like to feel so utterly successful.

So here’s the trick, start to be that successful person now, start to live with that feeling of success. It’s like getting a check from the future, take a little bit of that feeling of your future success and allow it to start influencing the way you feel and live today.

So when you walk down the street, people can tell that you’re already successful and you’re on your way to even greater success.

Listening to your body

Listen to your body, it is very wise.

Wiser than you conscious mind, wiser than the Encyclopaedia Britannica, Einstein, Steven Hawkins, wiser than your Gran, wiser than the Biggest super computer in the world, wiser than you’ll ever know and than you’ll probably ever give it credit for.

Your body is wiser than you, yet most of us don’t listen to it nearly as diligently enough. Listen deeply to your body and hear what it is saying.

What is it saying right now?

It tells you when to eat, when to sleep, when to move, when to hold on and when to let go.

But more than just being wise it’s also a very good listener. It listens to you, to your conscious mind, that part of you that creates and mediates your life and your reality.

Whatever reality it creates, your body listens, prepares for and adjusts and responds accordingly.

The reason why your body listens to the less wise conscious mind between your ears, is because, you conscious mind has the power to create, to transmit and to change the nature of the reality around it.

So if your mind believes something is so, even though it may not have been so originally, your body prepares for the reality you are creating.

So your thoughts, your conscious thoughts are really important. They have an impact on you body. Your unconscious thoughts also greatly impact on you body.

Now take all of your conscious though and put them to one side.

Now take all your conscious thoughts and put them to the other side.

Now clean a space within yourself, a silent space, a clear and tranquil place within yourself that just listens.

Listen to your inner deep.

This is the knowledge that your belly knows, the truth that your guts are aware of.

What I want you to listen to is your gut instinct.

It is more than just reactionary ‘gut instinct’. Most people think of a time when they knew something in their guts, there might have been a twinge in their belly that told them something very strong, and that was probably their gut instinct. But your guts are telling you so much more subtle information all the time, not just life and death shouting, but an encyclopaedia of life altering information at most of the time we are completely oblivious to.

[Your belly is actually a form of brain a seemingly more basic brain, but nonetheless a communicator of intelligent information.]

So take time to listen to your belly, listen to your body, learn to become aware of what it is really saying.

Listening means and implies a certain level of real care for that or who you are listening to.

So care and love your belly, care for and love your body and listen to them.

Feed them good food, let them out to see the world, and get moving and have fun.

If you listen you’ll find out that your body actually really enjoys moderate exercise and your belly enjoys tasty healthy food in moderation.

Eat breakfast!

I’m not commanding you to do anything!

It’s just a suggestion, start your day with a bowl of muesli, portage oats or some type of oat based cereal.

Oats are a Whole Food, they are packed with good stuff and keep your energy levels up till the afternoon.

You may be used to not eating breakfast, or just drinking a cup of coffee or grabbing a slice of toast on your way out to work, but you’re not doing yourself any favours.

If you don’t eat breakfast your body starts to brake down your own body muscle tissue for energy rather than fat and it turns whatever you put in your body to fat more readily because it thinks you are living in a famine stricken land.

So start to introduce a small oat based breakfast to your morning schedule, you may not like it at first, and you may feel slightly nauseous at the thought of breakfast but after a few days of it you’ll find that you can’t do without it.

Your stress levels will decrease, you mind/brain will work better, your mood will start to stabilise and you’ll have a lot more energy during the day, and it might help you to sleep at night.

If you can’t stand plain oats then add a few sultanas or raisins or some of your favourite breakfast cereal.

If oats make you sick (actually puke) – the try some wholemeal toast

(Obviously if you are diabetic or have IBS or other physical problems that might be affected by changing your diet, please speak to your GP)

You see Urban Guru isn’t just about flowery ideas, you need to make sure you are properly fuelling your body as well as your mind!

Your focus determines your reality

Your mind is like a special satellite dish that hones in on anything you programme it to look for or be interested in. Whatever your focus that becomes your dominant underlying thought. Your thoughts and beliefs shape the way you understand yourself and the world, the help you navigate your gave through the word and make sense of your life.

But it is ultimately YOU who chooses to focus on whatever it is and that changes the way you understand yourself and the world.

The ‘Alter Rebbe’ coined the phrase ‘You are where your mind is’ which means, that, whatever you are really thinking about, that is who you become, the information you feed yourself everyday, from the outside (books, media, conversations, etc) all feed your own world view, but also your own internal voices back up and reinforce these ideas.

So the real question is where are you now – what are you thinking – what are you choosing to think about – what is your focus?

You are in the driving seat of your mind, there is no one else in your mind except you and you can choose to think about whatever you want. And those thoughts become your reality, they shape your reality, they shape and change the way you see and understand yourself and the world.

So become aware now, of what you think about.

When you notice that you’re focusing on negative things, just move your attention to something else – think about something else. Like Strawberries and cream, the smell of freshly cut grass, the sound of laughter, the smell of rain, the feeling of the sun warming you up, the sense of belonging and comfort from a hug from a good friend, and a 101 different things that might make you smile.

Make a choice, choose more happiness in your life, choose more life in your life, more laughter, more joy, more peace, more relaxation more gratefulness, more connectedness, more love, more goodness, more smiles, more winks, more of you, more of everything that’s good in the world.

Choose your focus – at the end of the day you can’t really argue with Happiness.

Try smiling, right now, if you find it difficult, just start by opening your mouth fully, and stretching your jaw, now try to smile, then relax.

Now do a really cheese grin, from ear to ear – go on! it wont kill you!

And make a cheesy wide smile and then stick your tongue out!

You should now have a look in the mirror – what a pillock!

OK. OK. Enough of that rubbish,

Contemplate this: YOU ARE ALIVE (it’s only for a relatively short time) YOU ARE BLOODLY LUCKY TO BE HERE!!!

Meditation Manchester

Your life can sometimes seem a little meaningless, a little grey, dull and mundane.

But if you think about it, what do you do in your day that would ever make it otherwise?

What do you do to actively make you life more meaningful?

Do you make sure to do a good deed everyday?

Do you spend quality time with your children or the person you love in your life?

Do you actively help others at least once a week?

Do you pray? Or Meditate?

Do you do yoga or chant?

Do you make sure your eat organic fruit and veg everyday?

Do you buy fair-trade?

“What have you done today to make yourself feel right?”

The pace of life can often take whatever you had out of you, running around chasing meaningless stuff, not eating properly, not looking after yourself and you wonder why you’ve felt better.

This is the remedy, you may not like it, and you may have heard this before from someone else but spend twenty mins each day meditating.

It can be on anything calming, relaxing, positive or meaningful, but spend time focusing, stilling your mind, breathing and getting in touch with yourself.

If you’ve never done ‘meditation’ before don’t worry. It’s very easy!

All it means is concentrating and focusing on one thing at one time.

You’ve probably done it without being aware of it, in the past while you were writing a letter, or figuring out how to put some IKEA furniture together.

The point is – just do it – create a holy time and space in your day and in your life. Give it to yourself as a present.

You can use this time to repeat positive affirmations to yourself like:

‘I am loved and I am safe’

or just repeating inspiring words like, Calm, Relax, Peace, Love, Happiness, Joy, One, God, Space etc…

Twenty mins a day for three months and I guarantee that you’ll become your own Urban Guru in no time at all!

If not I’ll give you a spiritual life coaching session for free!

Listen to your heart

Everyday, if you listen closely, the Universe within yourself is telling you something.

If you listen you will hear, that small and quite voice, that knowing feeling that dwells behind your heart, it is urging you to love.

To do what you love, to be what you love, to live the life you love.

But you’ll only hear it if you spend time and energy learning to listen, learning to quiet your mind, to sit still for a moment, to let go of everything you are trying to hold on to.

If you are able to create room within yourself, to create time within your day, to make space in your life to listen, then you will hear the compelling gush of your soul, forward towards that passion in your life, the goodness in you heart, the loving sparkle in you eyes.

If you could just learn to breathe, gently, to listen to your breathing, to focus on your breathing, to feel the sensation of your breath passing slowing and easily in and out of your lungs, if you could allow it to make a space within you that is open and receptive then you will hear.

This voice, this drum, this tidal wave of subtle joy that wants to engulf your whole being with every beat of your heart.

So begin to relax, allow yourself to just be, let yourself be comfortable in your own skin and learn to love the you that you are.

If you spend time listening, your heart to sing you its secret song, of longing and laughter of love and joy and you’ll discover that it’s the same song you have been singing your whole life silently, the song that you knew when you were a child and running in the fields, the song which your heart is drumming to is your life.

So let today be one of song, let it fill you with joy, let the rhythm within travel without.

And start to hear the love for all existence that is always singing if you’d only listen.

What’s the price of happiness?

I’ve been trying to hold on to this one for a while and to be honest, it’s not a particularly inspiring idea that I want to share with you but one that I’ve been thinking about for a while.

The reason why it’s been bugging me is simple, it’s about priorities, goals, desires, dreams and aspirations. I was driving towards Old Trafford from Deansgate today and noticed a new BMW 4×4 on sale at the side of the road for £33,995.

Now obviously not everyone reading this site is going to want to spend that kind of money on a car, but there might be.

The point I’m trying to make is that, I do Life Coaching – fantastic, inspiring, personal and professional life coaching and I do charge for my services.

As you can see for yourself in the PRICE page above, and the reason why I charge what I think is a relatively substainital amount is firstly because “I’m worth it” and secondly because it’s about your priorities, what is important to you.

Is making your life better, truly transforming your world really important to you?

Is your life long happiness a priority in your life?

Are you willing to put your money were your mouth is?

That’s always the sign, no matter how evolved, how cultured people are – watch what people DO with their money – it’ll tell you a lot about them.

If your personal development is important to you then it’s worth spending your money on it, if it’s not then don’t.

But for just a moment think about all the things that you do currently spend your money on, all those things that you buy to make yourself feel happy, when deep down you know in your heart you don’t feel it?

What about your gym membership and your personal trainer?

What about all those times you eat out?

What about all those little things you buy yourself as a presents?

If you add it all up, you’ll see that you spend a lot more than £80 a week on stuff you really don’t need, much more than that on things to try and make you happy.

But in the long run you simply accumulate stuff, things, gadgets, houses, cars, friends, but don’t really take time to spend money on what is really important in your life – deep down and honest happiness.

And my style of Life Coaching aims to bring you just that at a fraction of the price of what you are currently spending on meaningless shite.

So do yourself and your bank account a favour and get in touch with a life coach today – one that works for you, one that inspires you to become your-own Life Coach.

Realised eschatology

That’s the posh name for ‘living your dreams’ – but it means slightly more. Eschatology – means what is going to happen in the End, the end of your life, the end of time, etc…

Who do you want to be in five years time? Where would you like to be in ten years time?

I’m not gonna ask you to start drawing up a plan, but I do want you to think about the question for a moment or two.

The point is whatever your dreams of the future, I beg you start to live them now!

Don’t wait until this or that is right, start doing it now.

If you want to travel the world then book a holiday!

If you want to change career then start reading up on the subject and do night classes!

Whatever excuses you are using to stop you living your dreams stop them now.

What a waste of time.

Every morning give yourself a second or two, look in the mirror when your brushing your teeth and look at yourself in the eyes and ask yourself where do I want to be in a years time?

Where would I like to be in five years time, in ten years time?

Do I want to be living the life I’m living now?

Because if you don’t start to make even a small change in your lifestyle now, you probably never will, and you’ll always be putting off tomorrow until tomorrow, and when tomorrow comes, there is always another tomorrow… etc…

So look at yourself, ask yourself ‘who do I want to be, how do I want to be – how do I want to feel about myself in the future?’

If you want to be more successful, both finically, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually then that’s a good start.

But if you want these dreams to come true (and they really can) then I strongly suggest that you start to feel that future success now.

That you start to become that which you are becoming.

If you’re finding this line of thought a bit difficult, try this out for size:

What would you do if you were told that you only had twelve months to live? (God Forbid)

What would your priorities be? How would you want to live your life differently? How would you want to be remembered? Who would you want to become?

Would you still do your job? Would you still be polite to people who really piss you off? Would you care what people thought?

Or would you find out what your real priorities are?

Whatever dreams you have of the future – live them now.
